Balloon Federation of America’s Youth Summer Camps

A CPA and managing partner at Stadtmueller & Associates, PS, Roger Stadtmueller manages office staff, oversees quality control, and prepares complex tax returns for individuals and corporations. Beyond his work in the financial industry, Roger Stadtmueller also has experience in aviation. He is the former president of American Hot Airlines and a member of the Balloon Federation of America.

Dedicated to advancing the science and sport of hot air and gas balloons, the Balloon Federation of America (BFA) maintains numerous programs for adults and youth. For young balloon enthusiasts, the BFA hosts hot air balloon summer camps. Designed for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 18, the BFA summer camps welcome up to 20 teens who have an interest in ballooning. Campers are given the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with balloon systems and learn about such topics as mapping and GPS, pilot training, and career exploration.

BFA summer campers do not need previous ballooning experience. Each camp is staffed with volunteer pilots who are certified by the FAA, along with experienced crew members. These individuals counsel and mentor campers while ensuring everyone’s safety. Currently, the BFA conducts its Great Eastern Balloon Camp in Pennsylvania and Rio Grande Balloon Camp in New Mexico. The cost of the youth camps are $425. This covers housing, meals, and all activities.
